How SOE handles your data in the mobile app. Your privacy is fundamental - not a feature to be negotiated.
The principle
SOE's approach to privacy is rooted in a simple principle: the founder's data belongs to the founder. The platform exists to serve the founder, not to extract value from the founder's data. This principle shapes every decision about data collection, storage, and use. The app collects only the data it needs to function. It stores only the data it must. It shares only the data the founder chooses to share. There is no hidden collection, no secondary use, no monetisation of personal data.
Data the app collects
The app collects three categories of data. The first is account data - the information the founder provides when creating an account, including name, email, and any professional details the founder chooses to share. The second is usage data - how the founder uses the app, which chapters they read, which tools they use, which sessions they attend. This data is used to personalise the experience and to improve the platform. The third is content data - the notes, reflections, and commitments that the founder creates within the app. This data is private by default and is never shared with other users or third parties unless the founder explicitly chooses to share it.
Data storage and security
All data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. The app uses industry-standard security practices - TLS encryption for all data transmission, encrypted storage for all user data, regular security audits. The founders' content data - their notes, reflections, and commitments - is stored separately from account data and is subject to additional access controls. The team cannot read a founder's private notes. The infrastructure is designed so that only the founder can access their own content.
Data sharing
SOE does not sell user data. The app does not share personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. Data may be shared only in the following circumstances: with service providers who process data on SOE's behalf (hosting, analytics, email delivery) under strict confidentiality agreements; when required by law or legal process; when the founder explicitly chooses to share data through the app's sharing features. The founder's data is never used for purposes beyond what is described in this policy, and the founder can request deletion of their data at any time.
Your rights
The founder has full control over their data. They can access it at any time through the app. They can export it in a standard format. They can request deletion at any time, and the deletion is complete - no residual copies, no backup retention. The founder can opt out of analytics data collection at any time through the app settings. The founder can also delete their account entirely, which removes all associated data from the platform. These rights are not conditional on membership status. Every user of the app has the same rights to their data.
