Where you are.
Where you move next.
The Map has two axes. Seven Phases describe where an entrepreneur is in the lifecycle. The Loop describes how they move. Most founders live longest in the middle. The Loop applies everywhere.
The seven Phases
A founder is in a phase. Knowledge is for a phase. Adjacent phases sit next to each other in the sequence below. No wraparound.
- 01Phase 1 of 7
Dream
Before the company exists.
The idea, the itch, the shape of a possible business. Validating desire, market, and self.
- 02Phase 2 of 7
Launch
First version in market.
The first ten customers, the first version of the offer, the first proof.
- 03Phase 3 of 7
Survive
The long middle.
Cash flow, retention, focus, saying no. Most founders live here longest.
- 04Phase 4 of 7
Stabilize
From heroics to systems.
Repeatable revenue and a working team. First real hires beyond the founder.
- 05Phase 5 of 7
Grow
Deliberate expansion.
Marketing that compounds, pricing that holds, a category the market recognises.
- 06Phase 6 of 7
Scale
The machine runs without you in every room.
Leadership, delegation, org design, capital.
- 07Phase 7 of 7
Legacy
Succession, exit, next chapter.
Wealth, identity, what the company becomes after you.
The SOE Loop
Every hard piece of building moves through the same seven steps. Reflection without adaptation is journaling. Reflection with adaptation is entrepreneurship.
- 01
Challenge
What are you trying to move forward?
Name it in a sentence. Something specific enough to work on this week.
- 02
Understand
What is actually going on here?
The real problem underneath. Not the symptom. Write it plainly.
- 03
Learn
What have you consulted, and what did it teach you?
Stories, frameworks, guides, conversations. One or two sentences of what stuck.
- 04
Apply
What did you actually try?
The concrete action, not the intention.
- 05
Reflect
What happened?
Failure-aware by design. All four fields matter.
- 06
Adapt
What are you changing because of what you learned?
Reflection without adaptation is journaling. Name the change.
- 07
Build Again
What is the next concrete step?
Small enough to actually do this week.
The Loop is a real workspace surface, not a diagram. Every loop you open persists. You can walk away and come back to the same step.
The Phases say where. The Loop says how.
A founder in Survive works the same seven steps as a founder in Scale. The content changes. The motion does not. That is why the Loop lives above the Map. Motion is the practice. Direction is the choice.
